The Indian government has announced the discontinuation of the medium-term (5-7 years) and long-term (12-15 years) gold deposit schemes under its Gold Monetisation Scheme. This decision comes in response to evolving market conditions and aims to reduce future government obligations and mitigate risks associated with fluctuating gold prices. Short-term deposits (1-3 years) will continue to be offered by banks based on commercial viability. Gold prices have surged over 15% this year, driven by geopolitical tensions and uncertainties regarding U.S. tariff policies.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India has blocked the release of the internationally acclaimed film "Santosh," directed by British-Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri.
